Meet Your Candidates

Three hopeful ASP students have, just a few days short of the Student Council election, announced their candidatures trying to woo the electors.

At the election, which is held on Monday 7 March, ASP students are to elect the new president of the Student Council as well as a vice-president and a treasurer.

Rasmus Langfeldt, a 20-year-old Chinese propedeutic student, is standing for the post as president saying that his number one favourite thing in the world is to make people do things.

“I have no friends except from ASP people, and that’s commitment! The next president should be more active in ASP, which I already am, and then I have initiatives for improving the Student Council,” Mr Langfeldt says also emphasising the fact that he bakes.

That might be a good quality as Tanja Fallentin, 30, who stands for election as vice-president, states she is good at eating Rasmus’ cakes. She is also a Chinese propedeutic student wanting to be an active part of the Student Council.

“I’m very organised and responsible by nature, so I’ll keep the Student Council organised by keeping track of social events and by being a notice board to and for the students,” she says adding that she is an inexhaustible source of motivation.

However, the Student Council also needs a new treasurer and that might be the 18-year-old year-one Japanese student, Marie Gaardahl. She used to be the treasurer of the student council at the high school she attended.

“You might not believe it but I like calculating – and I like money. Put in one word I am very motherly, as I like to take care of people and home stuff including daily finances,” Ms Gaardahl says revealing her slogan to be “I’ll think about it”.

Even though the three candidates seemingly distribute the various posts equally between each other it has, however, been the custom to announce one’s candidature on the day of the election, thus contested election is expected.

The Student Council Election is held on Monday 7 March at Dalgas Have room DSV089 from 9 to 10AM and all ASP students have the right to vote.
