Welcome to the September issue!
Welcome to a new issue of the Renmin Shimbun and a new semester for the Asian Studies Programme!
There will be a few changes in the Renmin Shimbun. We will have new journalists joining us as the ASPY0 starts, and we will have a new Editor in Chief, yours truly, as the former Editor in Chief, Sasja Christensen, will be off to China for a year. However, we hope and believe that we will continue to see Christensen’s refreshing articles in Renminshimbun during the coming year.
I am exited to take on the challenge as the new editor, and hope that the Renmin Shimbun team and I will be able to keep up the numbers and quality of our articles. We are always happy to receive feedback and comments, and hope that you, our readers, will share your thoughts with us.
In this issue you should check ut the article about Harajuku, and follow Maya’s trip to the land of weirdness. You can also learn about how Japan came to be in our new series, “The History of Japan”, where we will give you brief, easy-to-understand articles following Japan from the beginning of time and up to the 21st century.
We have seen an exciting change in Japan the last week with an election leading to a new political party in power, and it will be exciting to see what changes will occur in Japan this fall. The Renmin Shimbun team will of course be here to keep you updated.
Grab a cup of coffe or nice warm tea and enjoy the readings we offer you in this new Renmin Shimbun issue.
